Tree Felling and Removal

If you need to have a tree removed then call us first and we can arrange competitive quotes for you, saving you time and money.
 
We don't cut trees down ourselves but work with several, trusted, skilled tree surgeons and related trades that are sympathetic to our cause and way of working.
​They don't like to see trees being wasted as much as we do when they can be turned into more useful stuff than firewood or mulch!

Why should I do that?
​Your tree may be of a species and size that is useful to us for our products or we can make something for you using your tree at reduced rates or in some cases, free of charge in exchange for the wood:
  • The tree surgeon can leave a higher stump that we can carve in situ like a wizard or an owl or something else.
  • We can turn your tree into unique furniture for your home and garden (see our other services below).

Chainsaw Milling - Converting your tree into useful timber

We have a portable chainsaw mill that can cut planks and posts from your tree - if we can walk to your tree then we can mill it.
  • Milling on site removes the need and expense of heavy equipment to remove trunks.
  • Milled wood can be used for making raised beds, garden furniture and features like a rose arch or pergola.
  • ​We can kiln dry the planks so it's suitable for making a unique and personal coffee table for you!
  • Your favourite tree can live on in a new form!

Kiln Drying Services - Making wood good for indoor use

Air-dried or freshly cut wood contains too much internally trapped water for indoor furniture:
  • If you use it wet or try to dry it quickly in  heated room then it will shrink, warp and split.
  • Epoxy resin may not cure properly or go cloudy.
  • You could lose hours of hard work and have to start your project again.
A kiln dries wood quickly but evenly from the inner core of the wood to the outside by controlling temperature, humidity and airflow. ​The time taken varies with the species of tree, how thick the plank is and its current moisture level.
  • ​We can kiln dry planks that we have milled from your tree and make furniture for you.
  • If you have bought a board from elsewhere then we can dry it for you. 

​Board cutting, flattening and sanding

Wood shrinks as it dries out and tensions built up in the wood fibres during the life of the tree are released, warping or twisting the previously flat boards - even with careful management of the process.
Wide board planers are very expensive so we designed and built our router planing table that can perfectly flatten one or both sides of the board. 
  • We can cut & flatten your board if you want to make an epoxy river table - and plane the excess off.
  • We can save you hours of time with a hand plane!
