We produce unique garden furniture for your outdoor space, combining natural edge wood slabs milled from local trees with optional chainsaw-carved creatures at either end.  Wedding benches and fire-pit seating to enchanted woodland, story-telling chairs, benches and tables, we've got most seats covered!

Creature Benches

Our eye-catching and comfortable creature benches are very popular and we have carved numerous ones in all shapes and sizes. The benches are made to order so you can find a bench that fits your space perfectly.
​We also make benches that are smaller in size and ideal for children play areas, nurseries and school playgrounds.​

The creature benches are produced in three variations as follows:
  1. Creature carvings at each end
  2. One creature carving and an open end
  3. An open-ended bench with carved lettering or symbols like the Three Legs of Man or a love heart on the bench bases only. A low-flying butterfly as seen on the picture below or a rounded mushroom top can be carved at no extra cost.

Bench sizes and dimensions
The creatures are around 90 cm/3' tall as we feel this achieves a good balance with the seating height of about 45 cm/18" but this can be varied depending on the subject matter being carved. If you really must have 6' tall bears or owls then we can carve them too!

The bench seating area can be made to standard lengths like 4', 5' and 6' but the overall length will vary depending on the size of the creature carvings at either end. ​

Fire-pit benches

​Our fire-pit benches are ideal for socialising with your friends around a roaring fire, extending your party till late.
We can make these in any length or combination to suit your outdoor entertaining area. Great for parties where you usually have more guests than seats!

The benches are made to order and the lead time is about 2 weeks. Prices vary depending on size and a good guide is about £35 per foot of length. The bench can be personalised with names or symbols like the Three Legs of Man. We're here to help if you have any queries.

Wedding Sweetheart benches

Our sweetheart benches make a fantastic, original, wedding gift from you or a group of friends, The bench is engraved with a heart, the bride and groom's initials and Cupid's arrow.​
Wedding guests can sign the bench with a permanent pen creating a beautiful reminder of the happy day that will be treasured for years!
We can collect the signed bench after the wedding, protect it with clear varnish and deliver it back to the happy couple.
The bench can be made in different sizes and an indoor version using kiln-dried wood can be created. The lead time is about 2-3 weeks but last-minute requests can be handled!

Storytelling / Enchanted Woodland Chairs

Our fabulous storytelling chairs are fit for a King or Queen  and also suitable for smaller garden fairies, princesses and elves. The seat back can be carved with woodland creatures and sayings like 'Once upon a time'. 

These chairs are great for encouraging imaginative play for children of all ages! Storytelling is great for improving literacy and social skills too.

Every chair is different and it can be challenging to make all the parts work together - but we think it's worth it and we're sure you will too!

​The seating area can also be enlarged to make a large bench for your garden or perhaps a unique memorial bench for a loved one.  Names, dates or symbols can be engraved anywhere on the bench in remembrance.

​We can create seating packages for nurseries and schools, combining a big chair with smaller mushroom seats or engraved benches for children to gather around. ​

Benches with backrests

We don't often get requests for benches with back but when we do we can create stunning ones like this!
We selected two wide elm boards that were just the right shape and length for a bench seat and back. The gentle curve provides generous seating and the back heights suits children and adults alike.
The heavy, wide boards are cut down the middle following the wood grain pattern which adds a nice detail and makes building the bench a little easier.
The bench surfaces are sanded silky smooth and treated with a hard wax oil finish to protect the wood - we have lots of boards available just waiting for your call!​

What wood is used for the benches?

The creatures are usually carved from a softwood such as Spruce, Larch and Monterey Cypress. Softwood is preferred as the wood is easier to carve and much lighter than hardwoods. The bench ends need to be heavy to be stable but not so heavy that we can't move them into your garden! 
​The seating area is also usually softwood but we can use hardwood such as elm when available for no additional cost.

​Wood Protection
All the wood used, whether softwood or hardwood, is treated with 2 coats of clear wood preserver before it is delivered. This protects the wood from excessive moisture and prolongs the life of your furniture. The bench should be treated twice a year, once in Autumn, around October and again in April. Additionally small bench feet or spacers are attached to the bottom of the bench logs, allowing air to circulate.

The bench ends were carved with a dragon and serpent figureheads and curved to resemble the prow. Viking rune symbols complete the story.
