​Design Your Own - Choose your finish treatment

Smooth sanded, untreated live edge wood slabs look good but won't stay that way for long. Anything that is spilled on it will quickly soak deep into the wood leaving a permanent stain.  The wood needs to be protected with a finish treatment.

We use Osmo Polyx Oil, a high quality professional treatment to finish our live edge wood slab furniture. It’s a blend of waxes, minerals and natural oils that combine to protect the wood from moisture and staining and enhance the grain, colour tones and character of the wood. It is a clear oil that will darken the wood very slightly, with Matt finish showing less of an effect than Satin or Gloss. ​

If you want to retain the light, pale character of untreated or sanded wood then we recommend you choose Osmo Polyx Raw. 

​It contains a small amount of white pigments to counteract the darker 'damp-look' that develops after application of a clear oil finish.

​Polyx Raw is available in Matt only.
​The oil finish reveals the true beauty of the wood grain and character.  Note how the Gloss section of the image reflects light from a window, the Satin section diffuses the light and the Matt untreated wood, absorbs the light.

Your choice of finish will be applied in two coats to all surfaces of your live edge board for a beautiful result and long-lasting protection from spills. The price of the finish is included in the wood slab cost.
