Board Workshop Services - Contact Us if more detail required

The kiln drying process causes boards to shrink and move and the wood may cup or bow as it does so. Our optional workshop processes remove these surface issues to create flat boards that are then sanded smooth ready for your furniture.
  • The boards in the shop are at varying stages of preparation, some have been flattened, sanded or fully finished and this is reflected in the price quoted.
  • You can choose to do some or all of the work if you want to or we can do it for you.
The prices vary for each board depending on the area and work required.  We're here to help so please ask if you any questions.

Board Flattening
Finish Preparation
The board will be supplied as pictured. Wood shrinks and moves at different rates when it dries which may cause the surface to become uneven with high or low areas.
A router or planer is used to create a flat surface over one or both faces. This process will reduce the thickness of the board from the stated depth by up to 15mm.
Applicable to flattened boards only. One board face and both ends will be sanded using progressively finer grades from 40 to 180 grit. This removes marks caused by flattening, smoothing the surface for oil or varnish finish (not included).
